The beautiful sandy beaches of nearby Lossiemouth and Findhorn are about 20 minutes away and the Highland capital of Inverness is only about a 50 minute drive. Closer to Drumbain Croft is the town of Elgin, where you can swim at the impressive leisure centre pool, shop, go to the cinema, go-kart racetrack, go ten pin bowling (with restaurant and childrens' lunar land play area), skate, play tennis, visit historic monuments like the ruins of Elgin Cathedral, follow the Malt Whisky Trail and more ...
There is plenty to do for those who like an active holiday, for example walking, cycling and watersports or just to relax and escape the rat-race for a week or two. The Speyside Way walk is close by and there is great fishing nearby at the Glen of Rothes Trout Fishery or the River Spey. For golfing enthusiasts, there are golf courses in abundance, for example the championship links at Nairn and Dornoch or at Boat of Garten in the heart of the Cairngorms.
The Croft is conveniently located on the malt whisky/castle trail. The A941 leads to the cathedral city of Elgin (10 minute drive), and Drumbain Croft is only 2 minutes from the Speyside town of Rothes, which has hotels, shops, a chemist, butchers, bakers, post office and takeaways.

The famous Malt Whisky Trail is right on the cottage doorstep with the first Malt Distillery a mere 2 miles away in Rothes town. The malt whisky trail gives you an opportunity to discover the best that Scotland has to offer - Highland scenery, a stunningly beautiful coast line and attractive towns and villages. You can visit the seven distilleries and cooperage on the Malt Whisky Trail, the Cashmere visitor centre, craft centres, castles and gardens and Baxters of Speyside.
For walkers, the Speyside Way is just a few miles away from the cottage. This is one of Scotland's 4 long distance footpaths and takes about a week to complete (or less if you are fit!). Sections of the route are open to horses and cyclists. Alternatively, take a drive along the A95 to the Cairngorms, where you can find a large number of the highest peaks in the UK.
The Highland capital of Inverness is only about 50 minutes drive making it a worthwhile day trip. Here you can swim at the Leisure Centre pool with its flumes and leisure waters, sample the Gaelic culture at pub ceilidhs, the Highland Festival, theatre and other arts, Hogmanay and more. South of Inverness you can visit Loch Ness and experience the dramatic scenery of the Great Glen.
Scotland is a mecca for birdwatching, spot Ptarmigan in the Cairngorms, Ospreys at Loch Garten, Divers on the lakes or head to one of the coasts to watch a variety of seabirds and wild fowl.
The area is rich in historical sites such as the unique recumbent stone circles (like Loanhead of Daviot), the battlefield of Culloden and plenty of castles. But why not come and stay to find out the rest for yourself!
